Conference of Ignacio García in Alhaurín Golf

Ignacio García gives a class to the students of the II Upper Course of Direction and Management of Golf Courses, considered the best course of golf course management in Spain.

In the morning of Saturday in the club house of Alhaurín Golf in Málaga, the well-known architect and designer of golf, founder of IGGA International, Ignacio García spent time with graduates and people who have been or are related in a professional manner with the world of golf, interested in developing their professional career in managerial posts in a golf course.

One more year Ignacio García goes to his appointment as a teacher of training courses for professionals who organizes Golf Management, unique in Spain approved by the Spanish Association of Managers of Golf, and offers a theoretical-practical course on the club house of the golf course to the students, face-to-face and distance learning for those who follow the course through the videoconferencing system.

Ignacio García s the first designer of golf course that teaches the intricacies of the design of the club house of the golf course in Spain, a design that lacks specific literature in the world of golf national and international.

Considered one of the most innovative designers and respectful with the environment of the country, García said precisely that «the clubhouse is the great unknown from the golf course».

In this regard, Ignacio García defined the club house as a house with many faces, and he affirmed that each one of those faces is a business opportunity for the golf club.

He added that the promoters have erred in its interpretation of the club house as something secondary instead of considering it as the nerve center of the activity of the golf course. And have become the main responsible for the construction of club houses with a size and location inadequate, with a completely wrong distribution plan and with inappropriate finishes that pose a risk of accident to golfers.

The result of that bad reading is a club house unsustainable, pointed to the architect of golf. A clubhouse that does not work and has an expensive maintenance, hindering the good management.

In a world that is increasingly more demanding and specialized, surprised that still today the club house is not designed by an architect specialized in golf courses. García hopes that the situation will be reversible in the coming years with the arrival of more architects specialized in golf courses and club houses, architects like him.
