Duel on the Death Star.
In this season of creativity and shared enjoyment, the design studio IGGA Internacional—founded by Ignacio García in Marbella (Málaga)—once again champions play as a tool for inspiring the youth, reclaiming the essence of creative construction through a new iconic scene from the cinematic universe.
Combining Two Legendary Universes
Following the success of its previous creation, IGGA delves back into the Star Wars imagery, this time recreating one of the most symbolic confrontations of the original saga: the duel between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi aboard the Death Star in A New Hope. To achieve this, the studio utilized small, multicolored plastic pieces from the Danish company Lego, which for decades have stimulated the imagination of children and adults alike, shaping a scene charged with tension, emotion, and narrative meaning. The set was built entirely using leftover and reused pieces from other sets.
“When the time comes, I shall not be…”
As Obi-Wan Kenobi said:
If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
The creative challenge consisted of condensing that crucial moment in film history into a compact set—14 cm wide and 35 cm long—without losing the dramatic force of the instant the Jedi Master sacrifices himself before his former apprentice. The scene depicts a towering Darth Vader, clad in his signature black armor and wielding his red lightsaber, facing a serene and steady Obi-Wan Kenobi, fully aware of his destiny. The chosen moment is when Obi-Wan lowers his weapon, accepts his end, and disappears, leaving only his robe behind while Luke Skywalker watches.
Design of Conflict
The environment reproduces the metallic corridors of the Death Star, featuring grey surfaces, geometric structures, and cold lighting that reinforces the sense of confinement and confrontation. Every element of the set is designed to suggest movement, tension, and visual balance, evoking the oppressive architecture of the Empire in contrast to Jedi spirituality. Beyond the physical clash, the display invites reflection on universal themes such as sacrifice, redemption, legacy, and the passing of knowledge between generations—values that have turned Star Wars into a timeless tale.
Play, Memory, and Creativity
With this new creation, IGGA Internacional demonstrates once again that play is not merely entertainment, but also a way of storytelling, stimulating the imagination, and connecting generations. A small set, built piece by piece, that encapsulates one of the most powerful scenes in cinema history and which, once again, delights both the young and the old.
Because, as the Jedi Master taught:
Impossible, nothing is.
